The man with no luck...

"The man with no luck!"

(TOLD BY TIM BOWLEY – REWRITTEN BY ME)

Once there was a man ... and the man had no luck!

So, tired of being unlucky he decided to look for God to ask Him why he had such bad luck. The very next day he began his travel. On the way he met a wolf. It was the thinnest and weakest wolf he had ever seen.

“Man! Man!” – Cried the wolf with his frail voice.
“-Yes wolf?”
“-Where are you going in such a rush?”
“-Oh! I’m going to find God!”
“-God?”
“-Yes! I’m very unlucky and I have to ask Him why.”
“-Oh... Can you do me a favour?”
“-What kind of favour?”
“-After you make your question to God can you ask him why am I so thin and weak?”
“-Yes! I shall do that if I ever find God!”
“-Thank you Man. I hope you find God.”
“-I hope so.” – And then he continued his travel.

After passing a tricky river the man found a giant tree. But unlike the other trees at the forest, the giant tree had no leafs and the branches were hanging down.

“-Man! Man!” – Called the tree with his monster like voice.
“-Yes tree?”
“-Where are you going in such a rush?”
“-Oh! I’m going to find God!”
“-God?”
“-Yes! I’m very unlucky and I have to ask Him why.”
“-Oh... Can you do me a favour?”
“-What kind of favour?”
“-After you make your question to God can you ask him why I have no leafs and my branches are hanging down?”
“-Yes! I shall do that if I ever find God!”
“-Thank you Man. I hope you find God.”
“-I hope so.” – And then he continued his travel.

The path chosen by the man was difficult but soon he found a house in the middle of the forest. At the entrance of the house was a beautiful woman. He soon found out that she was the saddest and loneliest woman of the world.

“-Man! Man!” – Called the tree with his monster like voice.
“-Yes woman?”
“-Where are you going in such a rush?”
“-Oh! I’m going to find God!”
“-God?”
“-Yes! I’m very unlucky and I have to ask Him why.”
“-Oh... Can you do me a favour?”
“-What kind of favour?”
“-After you make your question to God can you ask him why am I so sad and lonely?”
“-Yes! I shall do that if I ever find God!”
“-Thank you Man. I hope you find God.”
“-I hope so.” – And then he continued his travel.

After walking a long time he found God on a corner .... knitting!

“-Oh God! Thank God I found you!”
“-Hello man, how can I help you?”
“-You know God, I have no luck and I thought You could tell me why.”
“-Your luck is out there, you just have to find it!”
“-Thank you God!” – Yelled the man as he ran away looking for his luck.

He ran for a couple of meters until he remembered the other questions he had to ask God. Quickly he ask God and quickly God answered him. Soon the man was running through the forest looking for his luck.

“-Man! Man!” – It was the sad woman calling him.
“-I’m sorry woman but I must keep going.”
“-Before you go, tell me something. Did you find God?”
“-Yes! I did.”
“-And did God tell you how to find your luck?”
“-Yes! He told me that my luck was out there and I just had to find it.”
“-That’s great news!”
“-Yes! Now I must go!”
“-But man, did you ask God why am I so sad and lonely?”
“-Oh yes! I did!”
“-So...?”
“-God said that you are so sad and lonely because you are lacking a lover.”

Suddenly the woman smiled.

“-Man, you can be my lover. You can keep me company. I know that my house isn’t big but is enough for the both of us.”
“-I’m sorry woman but I have to go! I have to find my luck!” - And then he continued the quest to find his luck.

After running for almost an hour the man found the same sick tree he had seen on his way to God.

“-Man! Man!” – It was the sick tree calling him.
“-I’m sorry tree but I must keep going.”
“-Before you go, tell me something. Did you find God?”
“-Yes! I did.”
“-And did God tell you how to find your luck?”
“-Yes! He told me that my luck was out there and I just had to find it.”
“-That’s great news!”
“-Yes! Now I must go!”
“-But man, did you ask God why I had no leafs and why my branches are hanging down?”
“-Oh yes! I did!”
“-So...?”
“-God said that you are so sick because you have a treasure buried under your roots .”
Suddenly the tree let out a big laugh.
“-Man, you dig the treasure!. You can keep it if you want. All you have to do is dig and take the treasure.”
“-I’m sorry tree but I have to go! I have to find my luck!” - And then he continued the quest to find his luck.

Finally, after crossing the big and tricky river the man found the weak wolf.

“-Man! Man!” – It was the weak wolf calling him.
“-I’m sorry wolf but I must keep going.”
“-Before you go, tell me something. Did you find God?”
“-Yes! I did.”
“-And did God tell you how to find your luck?”
“-Yes! He told me that my luck was out there and I just had to find it.”
“-That’s great news!”
“-Yes! Now I must go!”
“-But man, did you ask God why am I so thin and weak?”
“-Oh yes! I did!”
“-So...?”
“-Oh! God said that all you have to do is eat the first idiot that crosses your way!” – Said the man with a big smile.

And so he did!

(Sorry for the mistakes – my English is a bit rusty!)
